Competition in the world of real estate is fierce. Potential clients view real estate agents as a dime a dozen and often feel overwhelmed by their options.

If you want to be successful, you need to make yourself stand out. You need to make sure the community you serve knows your name.

But how do you do that?

We’ve listed 5 ways to stand out in a crowded real estate market:

  1. Build Your Own Website

If you work with a major agency like Century 21 or RE/MAX, they usually give you a website on their domain. Having your own website distinguishes you from the competition by breaking away from the cookie-cutter website template.

Also, having your own website allows you to have more autonomy with the resources you want to offer and the brand you want to establish.

  1. Be Available

The fast-paced industry of the real estate market slows down for no one. You need to be able to return calls and emails soon after you get them. If you don’t do this, you might lose out to another agent with the faster response time. Although it can be inconvenient, you have to show potential clients that you work around the clock for them.

  1. Go the Extra Mile

Take time to get to know your clients! If you can show your clients how much you care about helping them find the perfect home, you’ll have referrals for days.

This doesn’t stop after you’ve closed the deal. Check-in on your former clients in their new home by sending a housewarming gift like flowers or a gift card to a home improvement store. Every little thing you do to show them you’ve gone the extra mile will help you stand out.

  1. Find a Niche

Since the real estate market is crowded, find a niche, and own it. You’ll be able to dominate a market segment and prospective clients will be coming to you since you’re the expert. “When you focus on a particular type of niche in real estate it will help you define your ideal clientele. When you know what clients you are after it will become much easier to create content that serves those clients,” says Josh Niehaus, Director of Sales at Elite Inspection Professionals.

Niehaus says this marketing philosophy will pull your clients toward you instead of pushing your services on a broad group of people. “For example, if you’re a divorce real estate specialist and are well versed in these scenarios, your clients’ needs will be met and answered at a higher level in comparison to a realtor that does not have any literature or verbiage on this particular area.”

Having trouble finding a niche? Ask yourself questions like who you associate with, who asks you for help most frequently, and what types of property are bringing in the most profit for your business.

  1. Choose the Right Kind of Marketing

Spend some time and money on your business cards. Use rich colors and use a material other than the standard card stock.

Also, work with a graphic designer to create a logo and brand colors for your business if you’re struggling. Once this is finished, you’ll be able to purchase everyday items with your logo that will keep you top of mind with potential clients.
